Personal interview number: #1

Interview starts at 3.57 pm.

Dr. Young: "Patient interview 36, patient refers himself as Stephen, also known as
Darkness. So Stephen, do you know why you're here?

Stephen: "…"

Dr. Young: "Stephen, I can't help you if you won't speak to me."

Stephen: "I don't need your help, Dr. Young."

Dr. Young: "Really? Then why do you think you're here in Arkham then?"

Stephen: "I'm here because I see things a little differently than most people do. You're so busy trying to be 'civilized people' that you can't see the real world around you. People living on the streets, strangling each other for a piece of molded bread, being chased down by some garbage with uniforms. Oh, it's a shame I couldn't take down all of them."

Dr. Young: "That 'garbage' you're referring to was the police. They were trying to prevent you from killing more people. They were only trying to help you, just like I'm trying to do."

Stephen: "They were a bunch of sick corrupted fucks, nothing but a group of mindless puppets. I just cut their strings, that's all."

Dr. Young: "They all had families Stephen; can't you feel sorry what you've done even for them?"

Stephen: "Spare me from your psycho crap doctor; I stopped feeling sorry for that kind of things a long time ago. It's amazing how much you can forgive yourself when you're covered with blood, fighting for your life day after day after day."

Dr. Young: "Yes, I'm aware that you've had a quite traumatic life. You never had a home or parents, did you? That must've been hard, living on the streets all by yourself. Still, I don't really think that's enough to justify your actions for yourself."
Stephen: "Morals are a luxury which I can't afford. I left those kinds of troubling rules behind me a long time ago. I want to survive, and if I have to wipe out entire families to do that, I will."

Dr. Young: "You have a violent past Stephen, and I seriously doubt that things are as simple as you think. I think you're afraid. Because of your past and your condition, you're afraid of other people. And that fear has grown into paranoia."
Stephen: "Oh really, so you're saying I'm afraid of other people. That I'm perhaps even afraid of you?"

Dr. Young: "Yes, I think that's the source of your problem. We're not just simple animals
Stephen; all of us have a glimpse of humanity in us."

Stephen: "I see, in that case doctor, would you look me into yes? LOOK INTO MY EYES! Yes, now can you see it? There's nothing there. I was born this way, mutated with black eyes. No iris, sclera or pupil, just a pair of pitch black eyes. Oh, they used to beat me up so bad for that.  You see, there's not a single ounce of humanity left in me doctor. All I have inside me now is darkness."

Dr. Young: "I seriously doubt that."

Stephen: "Oh believe me, it's true. Say, I could kill you right now and I wouldn't feel a thing."

Dr. Young: "Guards, take the patient back to his cell!"

Stephen: "Is that it then? How very disappointing. Okay, go ahead and strap me up boys. I'd like to get back to my cell before the dinner."

-End of the interview-
Not one of my best works, seems incomplete and the English translation is lacking, but I haven't written anything in ages and I just needed to get something done.

A fictional patient interview based on my own character, Darkness. Inspired by Batman: Arkham Asylum video game.

You can think this as a teaser, the character is a bit dull, but I plan to reveal more about him later on. We start from zero, and learn more about him from there, just like Dr. Young does.

A part of a longer series, I plan to write more of these.
